Design Document

My Design Document

The Design Document was to take my first assignment which was my iterated game and use it to create an design document.

The game is based on the original Tablut. The rule of the game has changed but the design and the board are still the same. How the rules are changed is there are more players rather than 2 players. In the original of the game players could move freely as long as they are moving horizontal and vertical. However in the new iterated game players can only move horizontal and vertical for one or two spaces at each turn.

The board is going to be 9x9 small squares within it. Other squares have the same and can be used by all players. One will control as the king and other players will control the attacking pieces.

  Asset list
  ·   16 Black pieces

  ·     8 White pieces

  ·     1 King Piece

  ·     1 Board game (9x9)

  ·     8 or 10 X mark

The objective for the king is to safely get to the edge of the corner to ensure his escape, while the attacking tries to capture him in order to win the game.

The pieces must go on their respective square as black form around white and the king in centre. With 10 X mark, when the white pieces takes the black pieces from the spot it becomes unavailable for the black pieces to move from the spot it got taken while the white and the king can freely pass it.

The game starts with a roll of dice. The player with the highest number gets to play as the king while others play as the black pieces then their turn goes first. The players who are playing as the black pieces can solo themselves or work together to capture the king but cannot tell/hint others where to go next. It based on their thinking skills to know where they would make their next move. If solo one player who playing the black pieces have their turn then it goes to the king’s turn then back to the next player who hasn’t had their turn.
All pieces can move one or two spaces each turn. To capture pieces it must have 2 pieces each side to it or as it called “sandwiched”. The king can only be captured by having 4 pieces surrounding him. If it a solo game then it 2 pieces sandwiched.
